Please enter your questions / comments in this forum and preserve the space in the GLASURIT VINTAGE COLOR RECIPE BOOK for future formulas only, Thank You.

Glasurit "Glasso & Glassomax" was the factory chioce paint manufacturer for Porsche and Volkswagen starting in the 1950's. The product line was an "autolack", laquer solvent base. High in metal content, such as led. The modern products will color mix differently due to the changed paint environments. Please consider when color matching.

I input my entire pre 68 formulas in the preceding forum. I have additional formulas for Porsche 50's-60's, and Volkswagen post 68. I will be adding these formulations in the future to the Recipe Book. Thank you for using this forum for your questions and comments.

I have completed the input of available formula data for Volkswagen 50's -70.

Are any interested in the available formula data for Porsche 60's - 70?

I posted the translations. I was unable to translate ocker and (helio)blau.

I suppose you dont have the mixing formula for L36 Azure Blue?
My local paintshop didnt have any info of 50`s VW colors, so if I want Azure I`ll have to accept the RAL mix of it...

In my quest to obtain the correct shade of Beige/Grey, thanks to this thread I found the recipe for it but it was missing the translation for the color "Ocker". I found a German color chart online and it says that the color is "Sienna". If someone out there knows this to be incorrect please speak up.

Any chance you can dig up the code for L11 Pastel Green, used from '49 to '53. Couldn't see it on the thread anywhere.

Are you referring to the Mixing Lacquer #61? Found this on another site, hope the link works. Translation appears to be Ochre, but you have probably worked it out by now :shock:

I'm looking for stock color paint for Thing wheels. It's an aluminum gray color and the paint code is L97U.
It was also used on Beetle wheels for a while.
This color is listed on Wolfsburg West's charts for '73 and '74 Beetles, Super Beetles, and Convertibles.

Was this color originally produced by Glasurit? A search of their web site reveals no information about this color.

I visited my local auto parts store hunting for paint to apply to our newly glass bead blasted wheels.
The store is a BASF dealer, but they can find no mixing formula for the paint code.
They even called BASF for tech rep help, and believe it or not, BASF has no formula for this code.
I also inquired about the L97U paint code at a DuPont/PPG dealer.
They also have no record of that code or a formula to mix that color.
Today, Wolfsburg West replied to my query and can offer no answers regarding L97U.
No one at http://autocolorlibrary.com has been able to answer this question or supply info about L97U.
This color is listed in the Thing Shop Manual sold by both The Thing Shop and Things Unlimited.
I'm just totally baffled no one can find or fill the formula for the L97U code.

Do you or does anyone have a formula or any information for L97U from any other automotive paint companies which perhaps could be cross referenced?

Michael, I'm looking for the formula for two colors used on my 62's wheels: sea green (L 381), and turquoise white (L 286). I looked on the Glasurit web site but those formulas did not appear.

Can anyone help me. iam looking for two colours L76 Brown Beige and L75 Light Beige. from March 1950 up to February 1955
From Chassis Number 20 00 001 up to 20 117 901.. I am having problems finding these. The paint shops i have visited tell me the paint codes do not match.??

Thought I'd pop-in to say hello!

The paint colour mixing formulae (L97U) you are looking for is available.
Not sure if you would like me to help, you may have already located the formula by now, but if you want help on colour codes I might be able to help,

I think bahama blue is L52. I'm pretty sure thats it.
