How much vinyl did you use and did you do it yourself?
What was the cost like?
Thanks

Got a wild hair last Summer thinking about having my New Beetle wrapped in some weird cammo pattern.
Cost to have it done looked like $1200 to $2000.
Too expensive for a "wild hair project"
There was an article on Hot VW's about wrapping a race car, it looked like a bitchen hard job to do on a Beetle. |

| Plasti-dip is amazing. I have done a few motorcycle frames in it and it came out way better than I could have imagined it would. Awesome stuff |

How did you do yours? I assume you mix plasti dip with the paint of your choice for color?
What mixture did you do?
Also if you were to paint it over rust... I assume that's a horrible idea right? |

I work in a sign shop and we wrap cars and trucks of all kinds. The hard thing with a beetle is all the round curves and lack of flat surfaces. It can be done but if you have no previous experience than I would advise against doing it yourself. To get the vinyl to form to the curves of the car you would need to use one of the higher priced vinyls, like control tack with the air release beads, your looking at a couple thousand easy.
Peace

Thanks for finding it- I have just had my car done with only the rear guards done. It gave him a lot of grief and could't believe somebody could wrap a complete VW. |

im actually gearing up to wrap mine once the temps drop a little here in florida, ive done half of the car as a test to see what will work, its not to hard if your comfortable with doing vinyl wraps but it is time consuming and to do it well requires deassembling your bug a little. ill post pics when mines done
also consider getting some quotes from sign places that do vinyl wraps, even if they're too expensive they might be able to get you a better deal on vinyl if they order it with everything else |

also to answer your question
Avery wrap cast 5'x10yard roll of matte finish vinyl will run you about 250.00 dollars if you can buy it direct, you will probably also need a few extra yards to finish. metallic finishes are more expensive, id suggest saving up for either 2 10 yard rolls or for a 25 yard roll, that way you have plenty to finish and keep the rest in the back of your closet so whenever someone bangs your door you can peel of the ripped and reapply
so planning on doing it yourself 500.00 +/- |
