| Hey guys quick question here. I am gonna try to stop by autozone and pick up some fuel line for my 71 sb on my way home from work. Only problem is, I don't know what size it is for sure. If I go home first and measure, they will be closed by the time I get there and I wont be able to work on it tonight and will have to wait till tomorrow. If you all could help me, I would really appreciate it. I am sure it would be the normal factory size since there hasnt been much done to this vehicle in the way of upgrading. |

| The correct fuel hose is metric 5mm and autozone will try to sell you 1/4" which is too large. |

Airhead sells these clamps for the 5mm hose...they dont distort and have a wide clamping surface. |

| NAPA stocks it. Picked some up today. Gates brand, a little pricey, but worth it. (They have the 5.5mm & 7.9mm). |

| Damn, my dad had picked up a new fuel filter for me as a surprise. He did'nt ask me before hand he just wanted to do something nice and the guys at autozone had given him a 1/4" filter. I had not tried it to see if it fit yet, but thought it might. My jbugs catalog has them in there and only offer 1/4" and 5/16" so I thought there was a good chance it was 1/4". Oh well I guess I will stop by just to see if they have it since it is on the way home. |

So is it 5mm or 5.5mm that I need? Also, if this makes a difference or not I dont know, I only need the line to relocate my fuel filter. It was in the line right before my carb and everybody here told me to move it to before my fuel pump. So I just need to run a line going from filter to pump and from pump to carb. Like I said, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. |

5.5mm equals 0.216535
One quarter equals .25
Therefore 1/4 would be to large
double clamp it and check it carefully |

JSW55 has it right the fuel line sold by autozone / krak / leprechaun oreilly etc .
Get's stiff after 2 month's .
Napa preferd Gate's line stay;s soft and malleable .

You can use 13/64", which is the closest. |

Wow. They have that? I had to actually use 1/4" and double clamp it like Jerry said. |

| 1/4 works fine for me, no leaks or slipping. Double clamp it for safety, |

Please read my topic before trying to bash me. That was there while i was doing work on the engine. It is no longer there and has been relocated to underneath the fuel tank. Thank the PO for it being there. |

Cool. Double clamping oversize fuel line is not a great tip to pass on. |
