Does anyone know by any chance what kind of other cars came with the same 4 bolt pattern as a bug? I was thinking instead of buying new rims and tires I could probably find a set of wheels on a vehicle at a junk yard that are bigger and wider than the stock ones. If I cant find any 4 lug ones, does anyone have any experience with 4 lug to 5 adapters? Are they strong enough to take some what of a beating?

i work at a junk yard and i tore apart a aaudi i think is what it was. it had nice 4 lug wheels that even had a vw stamp on the inside. im sure they would bolt right up. the only problem with wheels off of modern cars is the offset. its usuallly quite a bit different than older cars.

your not going to find much in the 4X130 mm pattern except for vw bug wheels. you can however get drum/disc blanks and have them machined for a more common lug pattern.

Porsche 914 is the only other one that fits.

if you want to keep it low budget, I found a pair of brand new American racing wheels( i think) for 100 for the pair. yes i know that they are steel, but that was affordable to me.. I got them from Peerless Tire.

Our wheels are 4 x 130 bolt pattern. Most other cars, are 4 x 100.

Search internet, there is some sites that list wheel (lug) sized by make/model/year.....

I have used 1" thick billet aluminum adapters to mount 4x100 + offset Honda wheels on my Datsun 510, I Auto-crossed it a few times with no problems.
I have seen the same adapters used on some off road trucks but they were used for spacers. The guy I got mine from sells on E-bay and were very high quality, they were even "hub centric" and fit perfectly, If I remember correctly they were only about $180.00 a set, I even bought a pair to mount 4x100 wheels on my small trailer axle so I could use the stock wheels from my Scion.

Dale there was also a 4x120 four lug used on early Honda Civic's [73-79] and early Accord's

Ok so I was thinking about getting some of these http://www.pacificcustoms.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Scr...ange_high= and get some chevy wheels.
But I could also get bigger tires for my stock wheels. What is the biggest/widest I can go with stock 15" rims? I was hoping on getting some 31s, not sure on the width yet though.

IF you are thinking really big tires and wheels, you might want to consider having drums/hubs redrilled and put studs in for wheel type you want.
