I have a really old ratty version of how to keep your volkswagen alive thats been passed down from owner to owner of my bus and i was wondering if anyone has scanned theirs and made a pdf file that they could send me. I'm not trying to get this for free I would just love a digital copy and can provide whatever proof you need that i do indeed already own the book. Let me know if you do and i can pm you or you can just go ahead and pm me if your willing to help.

Thanks

Why not just scan yours? These things are a dime a dozen. Seems like the are stuck under the seats in half the vans I have every seen.

Cause a lot of the pages are all oily and water damaged and i would like to avoid getting all that crud on my scanner.

If you're going to spend your precious time scanning something, make it something useful like a Bentley.

got a fresh bently last week actually

its always helpful to have multiple perspectives on a topic as long as you know why each perspective is the way it is. Muir has a lot of useful info and a lot of crap thats outdated but the majority of the crap is only so because he wrote that book when things were a lot different with cars than now. And u gotta love the illustrations :)

Put something clear on your scanner like saran wrap or similar.

I am alarmed you have set out on this trip without all these things already. The book can be ordered online used for $15.

I would think that most anyone would have thought that that was a lot of pages to scan, and therefore am doubtful it has been done. Buy a copy of the book, scan it, and then sell the book if you no longer want it anymore.

If I wanted an electronic copy of a manual I wouldn't be bothered with scanning the idiot book, I would do either the Bentley or the Haynes.

Last year before a trip I scanned all the manuals into search-able .pdf files including the owners manual and any added accessory's manual. I have a document scanner that scans both sides at once and is self feeding. I bought new manuals and cut the spline off with my band saw. Scanning took less than fifteen minutes per manual. The paper manuals take up a lot more space than my laptop and now I can find information much quicker. All the manuals fit on a 2gb flash drive.
