I have been cleaning out my parents garage of stuff I have left when I moved out 20 years ago. I came across this Blaupunkt radio, It says Frankfurt on it. It is a am/fm radio with a green face. I thought it was for a porsche of 56-59 vintage but I dont really don't know. It is a 6 volt/ 12 volt model. Any help in identifying it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Ruben

It looks to be about a '62-'63 vintage. It looks to be a hybrid type that was built around then. Hybrids were that they had tubes AND transistors. I have one real close that came out of my old '63 Prosche 356. My Dad bought the car in 1965 with 13,000 mi on it so I know it was the origional radio. Don't have the Porsche anymore but the radio is in mv '55 Vw.
I don't know what the "K" button is for. Hope that helped. I DO have schmatics for mine still.
It could have been extra ordered for a bug of that era. Most Blaupunkts of that age and a few years newer were convertable for 6 or 12 volt and + or - ground.
YOU WANT TO SELL IT???? PM ME. |

Hello from Germany,
over here in Europe the Blaupunkt Frankfurt was a common radio for several brands (with different faceplates). The "Frankfurt" was built from around 1955 until 1975, with tubes and/or transistors, and different wave ranges, like UUMML, LMKUU or LMMUU.
If you give more information about it (like series number and especially the letter stamped/printed before the series number) it is easier to tell which type and year it exactly is.
You can see some pictures of the different types here:

The radio is a 63 model Frankfurt FM (European model). The 'K' button (shortwave) is incorrect and has been fitted in place of another 'M' button (probably when the original button got chipped or cracked).

Not to hijack but I've been looking for a long time for ivory "AM" and "FM" buttons for my early '60's vintage US Blaupunkt Frankfurt. Any suggestions as to where I may find them are welcome. |

Is that original and restored radio ? I wonder if it is as there's no sticker on it : hard to know if they have real K series or not ? |

brand=Blaupunkt, type=Frankfurt, am+fm, fits VW and Porsche, all just like you already mention in your original post.
what exactly do you want to know about it, can you be little more specific please?
the receiver has a "power-pack" attached to the back.
nice vintage tube radio of good quality.
it looks to be from the very late 1950's to early 1960's; serial number will date it accurately. |

Hello, your radio is a European 1962/63 Blaupunkt Frankfurt TR de luxe radio. belairman wrote: I have been cleaning out my parents garage of stuff I have left when I moved out 20 years ago. How nice to provide an answer to a question of almost five years ago.
Well done. |

This thread must be a contender for the number of times it has been brought back from the dead since 2010. First in 2012, then again in 2013, and now. We love our Blaupunkts! :) |

The resurrected post lives on...
Can anybody ID this one for me? It's got the CONELRAD triangles (1953-1963); 6/a2 V; positive/negative ground switchable. No name/serial number tag remaining...
I searched, but found no other 3-button radio with this button combo.

This appears to be a Blaupunkt Manhattan, the basic AM radio for the US market, and likely from the "W" series (1965-66), as it has screw posts for the knobs, but chassis features found on later radios. |

I have a Blaupunkt Frankfurt Tr DeLuxe, where the heck do you attach the speaker(s)? The gray cable with din connector is plugged into the side of the radio. There is no amp attached to the back. can't for the life of my figure out where the speaker would connect. help! |
