I have a Stansport folding table with unfinished wood and IIRC it has steel legs.

My advice is to buy something else.

This is a tiny table (for a tiny me!) but I've loved it. It's very compact and made of metal which I like, so I can cook on it, etc. It's the height of one of those shorter lawn chairs, which is what I typically travel with (that and my crazy creek) making it convenient to set a beer, coffee, books, maps, etc, on.

A larger table would sometimes be nice but not worth the space it would take up in the van.

I considered a folding table, but determined that they take up too much real estate. Went with the Roll-A-Table and it's worked out very well.

(^Dad in the pic, not me :wink: )

The only problem is that it doesn't come with a storage bag and no local outfitters in my area sell one. You see that red chair in the pic; that cheap-ass made-in-China $7 red chair? It went bust on an outing this summer; the table now uses its storage bag (fits perfectly!). 8)

I probably have 6 different camping tables of different sizes. The oldest and sturdiest is still the Roll-A Table. Going on 20 years strong.

Roll tables have been great, use them all the time. I have the blue roll up one and I have one with a metal top that isnt exactly a roll table but works like one:

kamzcab86: if you need a bag for a roll table, call Jason at WetDreams river supply in FLG. http://www.wetdreamsriversupply.com He'll have what you want or will make it for you. I think he's in the canyon till mid december but anyone in his shop can get it to you. Support Locals (Flag locals;)!

We have used the blue roll up table for 7 years or more, it is stored permanently in the van. Works great, probably the biggest weakness is that the vinyl can melt if it gets too hot from a stove or BBQ. The aluminium roll up ones look like they might be lighter and better for cooking on. I might try that next but the blue one looks like it will be arround for a few more years.

I'm totally resurrecting a year-old thread, but wanted to find an existing and appropriate place for this.

That's true, and I just placed the order today so it won't be until the next trip out with it that I'll have photos, but I will share!

Our posse does include two under the age of six, but also two large adults. I considered this, and see that a camp chair at either end rather than the little bench seats might be appropriate!

Those roll-a-tables look pretty nice. I didn't know about them when I bought mine at REI, but they both look very similar:

folds up and fits into a bag:

The main thing for us was that it not take up too much space and be fairly light. The aluminum makes the REI table pretty light, and it all fits into a small bag, so it fit our needs fine. I bought it with the annual 20% off REI coupon.

We have the same table and shower, after first hand use of nearly everything on the market in those two categories. They work the best for us.

I have the Broadstone table, same as Tam above, ^^^^ :)

Last year I built a chuck box and that didn't work out so well for our needs...

This year I took another attempt and think I hit the jackpot!

It stores the stove,BBQ,lantern,two spare 1lb cylinders,hoses for propane,hatchet,lighter,paper for fire and the all important sign for campsite post! Thanks Tim! :)

The doors slide out and store in bungees on the back. The legs slide in and are height adjustable. They store in the bungees for travel. Laminate top for easy clean up. Contructed out of 1/4" plywood and hardwood strips for strength and light weight.

Anyone want my table?
