I always remember grabbing the newest issue of Volkswagen Greats before anything else. I hung in there when they started chasing the water cooled and Porsche stuff, but as the air-cooled cars left, so did I. |

X3.
I love the show coverage in those mags. They're not afraid to show the back row of primed "under construction" rides and their owners hanging out having a beer. |

Ditto to all the above. However, I do still subscribe to HotVW's. I still like printed magazines and that is the last ACVW one from the US. Been reading it since the early nineties. |

I Dont have a favorite but Hot VW's has seemed to up their game lately, more tech, better stories and not the same clubs over and over (for the most part). remember that thread "who still reads hot VW's?" they got trashed. i dont really need magazines anymore. |

I got VW Trends for about 3 months and then they went out of business or whatever, but of all the VW magazines I have got since then, VW Trends is my favorite. I don't really get magazines anymore though, I just read stuff on this site :) |

Hot VW's & Volksworld, I like still like printed material. VW Trends was only good at best for a potion of the first year of publication, nothing but a down hill slide after that and they did not go out of business fast enough. |

The quality sure as shit better be there for eight bucks a copy in the states...lol.
In all seriousness, I like Hot VWs as well as the aforementioned magazines, though the Euro mags are worthless for me in terms of parts pricing, but that wouldn't be my primary purpose in buying the imported mags anyway.
I think the U.S. as well as Euro mags do a good job of promoting the VW scene, because let's face it, how many different ways are there to present stock restorations, resto-customs and off-road cars? People will say there isn't enough of this or that in any one or all the magazines, but it's impossible to be everything to everyone. |

What's the appeal of unfinished cars and guys slamming brew? Lol, now that's what I would call niche marketing. J/K   |

I pretty much like them all that's already listed here.
Couple to add are the Japanese VW magazines:
Let's Play VW's
Street VW's
Often hard to find Japanese magazines in the states, but some Japanese bookstores carry them.
I can often get them at the local Kinokuniya Japanese book store here in San Jose, sometimes find them at the San Francisco one as well.
The Japanese bookstores down in SoCal I have seen many:
Kinokuniya bookstore in Costa Mesa & Torrance, and bookstores in J-town in downtown LA. |
