My louvered jalousie window knob broke and the screw/part/dewhickey that the knob fits on to to control the window also broke. What is this part called and is it easy to fix/find, etc.....

i just realized that's not the part you are seeking. The crank itself past the knob is not showing up on search.

Aren't those parts just the knob. I picked up a new knob, but the screw/pin(whatever it is called) that actually controls the window louvers is the part that I need.

So you're saying the actual shaft the knob goes on to is broken off? As in flush with the window frame?

Find a donor window.

YES; exactly that....Do I really need a new window though? It is not repairable?.....

Sounds like you broke part of the window transmission and unless you want to take the window all apart and try to fix it....Replacing it would be easier.

Having learned the hard way how much of a pain in the a** taking apart a window is I'd find another window personally.

Hehr Torque Operator 8700/7900 Part number: 008-191

Just had the RV parts place order me a couple, they're different for left/right side.

Not too hard to take a part the window and replace, about 8 screws and 6 rivets.

that is interresting. Are those windows american made and they shipped them to germany back than?

How much is a piece?

After:

I completely disassembled them, machine polished them with Nuvite, bought new aluminum screws and polished the screw heads, bought a new seals kit from Wolfsburg West, tinted the glass at 20%, put in new screen, and installed a new billet aluminum knob from mcjproducts. This place also has the Jalousie torque operators for sale for about $8 each:

Look for 2 of these:

Hehr Torque Operator (right hand) p/n 008-192

After inspecting the setup on my Jalousie windows, it appears that I need to buy two right Torque Operators for my bus.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

there is the Amazon route for lift mechanisms
R-7021 Right operator
R-7020 Left operator

where I found a few operators had failed is the 2 'tangs' inside that engage the craoss bar shaft are weak and break away.

And when costumers ask me how much to fix those windows they can't believe it I said try it and get back to me. I have rebuilt some for myself and I tell you what I don't even want to do them for myself.

So how much do you charge to do mine? unless you protected them with something they will dull up soon.

You're right... they are a huge pain in the butt to do. But I was very pleased with the result.

What do you recommend protecting these with that would keep them from dulling up? I hadn't thought of that?

Nice find! Those look like they would work too.

Am I the only one that had to buy only Right Hand operators for my bus? I have a 71 Westy. Are they all the same or do some busses need the LH operator too? Just curious.

you should be able to use any mag wheel polish & protector.
but check into what the big shiney rigs use.. I think it's a Mother's product.

most (ie. nearly all) use the RH gearbox, but I do have 1 out of 12 windows here with a LH gearbox, allows both windows to crank from the same end of the car..

Wow... interesting. Thanks for the tips. :D
