You might want to wait more than half an hour, people might have other things to do on a Sunday afternoon (and Fathers Day at that) then to hang out on the web.

Give it a few hours or days and I'm sure you'll get answers.

Don't know about their coils but I've had good luck with their alternators and starters.

I have been using one for about 3 years now on my 1776

"You may not get what you pay for, but you always pay for what you get"

I show the Duralast coil at $27.99. The Bosch from Aircooled.net is $39.95. If it was me, I'd go with the Bosch...

Is it still working good? I am getting ready to get one today from Auto Zone and wanted to see how it was handling... Did you get the one with the internal resistor? I have a stock dizzy that I will be using?

Oh come on, "Built to last, Duralast!"

I ran one for several years with no problems. I only replaced it because I wanted one that was the correct blue color. A few weeks ago I was helping a friend get his bug tuned, and we put the duralast coil I had saved on his car. Runs great.

I'm running a NAPA brand---long story, I'll spare you--but I haven't had any problems.

I didn't know that blue was "correct". Every car I've had, that appeared to never have had the coil could changed, was black.

Are the coils the ones that have a built in resistor?

I just bought a duralast coil. It says on it not to use with an external resistor... I always buy Bosch except for this time. Is this the correct coil, before I hook it up and fry it :?:

Check the resistance across the coil with your ohm meter.

Check the resistance across the coil with your ohm meter.

By chance have what the resistance should be?

they are originally

check the classifieds. 30 bucks is not a good deal for a coil,

here is a bosch 12v blue coil WITH bracket for $28, I'm sure there are better deals than that.

Check the resistance across the coil with your ohm meter.

By chance have what the resistance should be?

primary: 3.0-3.5 Ohm
secondary: 7.79 kOhm at the bare minimum

Measuring the coils primary resistance. Using your ohmmeter, connect the red lead to the coil’s positive electrical connector, and the ohmmeter’s black lead to the coil’s negative electrical connector. An average resistance reading could be between 1.0 and 3.5 ohms

Measuring the coils secondary resistance. Connect the ohmmeter’s black lead to the coil’s negative (-) electrical connector and the ohmmeter’s red lead to the coil’s terminal-where the distributor or spark plug wire attaches to. A typical resistance reading could be 3 kOhm to 11.5 kOhm.

These are to be checked with all wires removed from the coil.

While not thinking straight...I ordered a coil from our local Fisher Auto Parts. I have no clue what brand it is, but the man behind the counter mentioned something about an external resistor. Don't remember what though. I'll have to see what it is when I pick it up tomorrow. Should've just done it right and bought a Bosch

Even then you have to be careful. There are many versions of the Bosch blue. Not all of them have the correct resistance.
