View original topic: 5mm or 5.5mm fuel line sizes?

So a real quick question here.

Ratwell's fuel hose section says the fuel hose size is 5.5mm for a dual carb bus. German Supply sells 5.5mm hose for FI at $14 a meter. However they don't sell cloth braid for carbed buses in that size. They sell 5mm cloth braid at $9. Since i need like 4ft (i think) i need to buy two meters. Pretty big price difference isn't it?

Bus Depot sells 5mm fuel line at $5 which i'm pretty sure is a much lower quality as well. But they don't sell 5.5mm at all, and they usually carry most things you could need, which is why i'm getting confused. Everywhere i look it seems 5mm is what i need, but Ratwell says 5.5mm and GS sells both for a reason right?

Here's what i think the order is for the fuel lines:
1) 7mm line from tank to filter.
2) 7mm line from filter to pump.
3) ?mm line from Pump to T fitting
4) ?mm line from T fitting to filter
5) ?mm line from filter to respective carb

So my question is that for my 1972 bus with a '73 motor, using the stock mechanical fuel pump, and dual Solex carbs need 5mm line or 5.5mm line from the fuel pump to the carbs?

I am not sure for carbs but you do not need FI hose, just regular good metric fuel hose of the proper size and good hose clamps that are made for, you guessed it, fuel hose. There are some other on line places that sell good quality metric hoses too that may be closer to you in terms of shipping. I got mine at Pelican Parts, but the normal VW specialty guys are good sources too.

yeah i know i don't need FI lines. But i can't find 5.5mm in anything but FI.
