I've considered these mirrors myself, but I hestitate to spend that much money without having the opportunity to at least sit in a car that has them installed first.

I'm concerned about whether or not I'd actually be able to see the right side mirror. I installed a round, factory-style, right side, hinge-mounted mirror on my '64....complete with the extra long arm....and I can't even see the mirror, let alone see anything with it.

I might as well have flushed the money down the toilet....

Some time later I bought a hot-rod style "peep" mirror for the right side. It was advertized as fitting VW's, but I can't see how to clamp it onto the door without cutting the sheet metal to provide a vertical lip first....

More money down the toilet....

Do these swan neck fender mount mirrors really work?

I have a feeling anything that mounts on or by your fender is for looks only. I've been looking at those swan neck mirrors for years now but just cant bring myself to cough up the cash for cool looks. Maybe after I rebuild the tranny, replace the clogged & corroded brakeline that runs down the center of the car and take care of other nagging problems that will make my Bug safer and more comfortable to drive, then I can afford to blow some cash on some cool looking mirrors. Check out this setup, I used to run one in my Ghia back in the 80's.

My radar detector clipped to the top of the mirror and I used a vinyl sunshade on top of the windshield that hid everything from outside. The mirror realy gave me a good panaramic view of what was going on behind me. This might be an option to consider?
