Sorry for the apparently stupid question
Early VW wide five is a 5 lug by 205 mm pattern with a 15" wheel
Later VW is 4 lug by 130 mm pattern with a 15" wheel
Porsche and others is a 5 lug by 130 mm with a 15" wheel
VW Thing is a 5 x 205 mm with a 14" wheel
Splitty Bus has the same configuration as the Thing with double the wheel backset.
68 -79 bay window is a 5 lug by (???? mm) with a 14" wheel
What is the (???? mm) of a Bay Window wheel? |

They came with 14" wheels, so those are out there.
15s are alot tougher. Stay with the 14s. |

I have a 79 Bus It has 5) 5 x 112 x 14 wheels and good new tires. I also have an extra set of 4 very good 5 x 112 14 wheels. I was just wondering if many folks had gone to 15" wheels. We brought a 94 Synchro Double Cab over from Germany and it had the 15" wheels on it and sat up nice and high... |

Does anyone know if there are any other known vehicles that have the same bolt pattern (5x112) as a bay window bus? Chevy truck rims fit my Toyota pickup perfectly. |

I just bought some stock Audi A4 wheel with 5x112 bolt pattern. I haven't installed them yet coz I haven't had the chance to get the right length lug bolts.
Most Mercedes benz wheels are 5x112 pattern also. |

here's the 16x7 Audi A4 turbo wheels mounted on my 68, back spacing is 35et if I remember correct.....used a 10mm spacer front (mainly for speedo cable) and rear used a 15mm spacer (to get tire clearance from spring plate), This is the type I used http://www.ezaccessory.com/Billet_Hub_Centric_Wheel_Spacers_Mercedes_p/5112.htm but measure first... tires are 205/45-16 front, 205/55-16 rear, oh and used 911 studs (66mm front and 52mm rear, MEASURE first don't go by what I used) you can get them here
http://www.paragon-products.com/product_p/pp901.331.671.00.htm ....no rubbing and handles/drives well

The tirerack sells 15" steel wheels for their snow tire packages for MB, Audi, and VW. The price used to be around $45. Gowesty repackages these and sells them at 150 or so. Your choice. |

There are tires available in a 195/80R16 size that have suitable load-carrying capacity for a bus if you can find 5.5-6.5 inch wide rims. With those you probably won't have to do any mods. Your gearing will be about 9% taller than with the 185R14 size. |
