Yeah, there were mostly VWs, but also some early Datsuns, and a few old BMWs...
Unfortunately, those dark spots are actually holes rusted all the way through...
:(
But I'm hoping to work something out with the owner to at least pull a couple savable ones out, plus parts...

And all that stuff looks waaayyyy better than what I find around here...
I find that Texas is ideal for transportation graveyards. Lots of open land to sit on. |

i went up to the guys house.. he lives just off the lot.. to see what he was trying to do with all these holy relics he had collected.. i gave him a quick rundown of what i was looking for and my phone number. i got his as well.. three or four days later, i finally get a call BACK from him, and he quotes me (RIDICULOUS!!) $80 for an old blinker switch.. ($60 new from BD mind you).. NO FRIGGIN WONDER ALL THOSE BUSSES ARE GOING BACK TO DUST! who would ask 30% more for a used part than that of a new one, when you have 50 of em' to choose from? i think he would rather let all these old vee-dubs DIE than see them going to good use.
dont know what to do.. he seriously has every part anyone would ever need.. but he wants souls for them... i dont get it. :( im so bitter about it.
Sounds like he's just an asshole.

Mountain Top PA. The yard is so heart-breaking to look at.. knowing that all those (maybe over 100) vw's are rusting to the point of no return, and the guy who is sitting on them isnt trying to push them off the lot by any means. maybe you would have better luck than i did. like i said, i couldnt even afford a friggin blinker switch off the guy (which i found for $15 on thesamba!!!! thank you very much!!!) but maybe someone is looking for that og part and having hella problems finding it.. he may very well have it. there are more than enough busses and bugs out there that could be put to GOOD use.
and fyi.. my father in law knows the guy well.. if that says anything.

Shawnee by Harrisburg or by the Delaware River?
Every time I've ever tried to stop in the VW Warehouse, it seems to be closed. Guess I gotta try again! |

He wasnt in the "Warehouse"... he was at his house,
that i boldly went up to and knocked on. If you are wondering
what house that is, its the one with all the vw rabbits in the yard..
i took an educated guess. give him a call and let him know you
want to take a look. |

Very few VW boneyards in FL. I ran across this one in Dade City. A few acres of ovals to fat chicks, buses, single and double cabs, t3s, ghias and t34s along with some water cooleds. Lotsa rust everywhere you turn! I did find a splitcase transaxle for my '56, though, in this homemade whatever the f... this thing is  . Never know what you'll find in these places!

The guy near Shawnee, (along the Deleware River) does not run a yard.
He is a "collector" with about 3 dozen pre 57 type ones and several splits.
The guy will not let anyone look at his "collection" unless you are with someone he already knows.
The locals say he is absolutly a nut case and does shot at people.
From what little that I was able to see, the type ones are complete, and are falling apart from rust. |
