Could anyone elaborate? Thanks.

I've never used one, but I believe they just increase the leverage of the pitman arm to provide quicker action of the tie rods. Used solely in off-road applications. Could be quite jerky on the street, possibly dangerous?

Back in 1968 my Dad test drove a EMPI GTV at the local dealership with the quick steer kit. It decreases the amount of turns required to go from lock to lock.

Many people installing a beam narrowed more than 2-inches are finding out that they need to install a quick steer kit for the street.

Here's a link to one... it's copywrited, or I'd post the pic.

So this question wasn't really answered...what's it like to drive a stock-length beam bug with a quick steer kit?

Nice toy or dangerous?

Quicker steering, but more effort required. Puts a larger strain on the steering box too. Might be good for street-driven bugs with stock or narrow tires, but not for wider tires or off-road use.

OK, thanks. :)

Seeing as how I'm hoping to get my new bug sideways without breaking too much, I'll limit the possible breakable bits for now. ;)

If you like to change lanes w/o using the steering wheel put this kit on, it is souly for off road use ONLY We have a panscraper, and it does not help at all.

Hahaha!

OK, I get the idea. ;)

Its kinda cool I have one from Reb-co made for circle track cars . Mocked it up but have the steering box out right now . The one in the pic posted looks like just gives you more leverage . The one I have is like a gear box . Its not dangerous not gonna make you switch lanes (unless you dont know how to drive) not gonna break anything to do with the steering of your car . Like was posted earlier less turns lock to lock nothing more nothing less .

Put a big steering wheel on it does the same thing

Mine's smaller than stock...nicer for drifting and driving like a Hooligan. :)

Our '66 with the stocker feels soooo lazy in comparison. :D

You can also opt for a drop spindle with the two outer tie rod holes. This is a CE (not CB) forged spindle. I have it set on the inner hole for quick steering. Me like it.

Wow! That is a seriously interesting piece of kit.

CE make some wicked bits and pieces, but alas, they're beyond the financial reach of mere mortals. :/

I know...because I don't have CE aluminium popouts and an air bag system on my rides. :D Haha.

They're about $20 more than the CB spindles. That's just 5 happy meals. :D

If I as suspect, I will need to go narrow, necessitating a new sway bar, I'll consider sacrificing another arm for it.

All of that I might be able to afford by 2017. :(

If it helps at all lots of the drifters use them also. It helps to catch the car when it enters a slide without having to let the wheel wind itself up.
