I saw someone mention that we need one and I agreed so here it is. This thread is to discuss or post pictures of any dune buggy toys. Perhaps it could even be a sticky
Here are some pics of the Hot Wheels "Meyer's Manx" casting that I've picked up in the past few weeks.
First is the 2003 First Edition. This is the first release of this casting. Its a great purple color with yellow interior and chrome 5 spoke wheels.
This is the most common right now (at least in my area). Its gold metallic, Meyer's Manx logo on the hood (big), beige interior and gold wheels. This is part of the Hot Wheels "faster than ever" line (note the logo on the card) which has the gold wheels that supposedly are very fast on the tracks.
Next is the same car, same color but with grey wheels. These look sort of like Torque Thrust wheels. I like this wheel much more than the gold wheel. Still easy to find, but I haven't seen as many as the gold wheels.
This next one is part of the Hot Wheels "Real Riders" line. This is a great casting because it has some neat looking chrome wheels. Fronts are very narrow "smoothies" (look like the classic spindle mount drag wheel), and wide 5 rear wheels. Paint is pink metallic, and grey interior. As part of the "real riders" line, it has real rubber tires. These sell for $5 at K-Mart but are well worth it if you want to custom paint because it will look very realistic. I bought a few of these so I can put the wheels and tires under some other VW castings to make a full line of drag VW's (Hot Wheels is releasing a Ghia casting this year!)
Finally, this is my prized piece  This is a limited edition "Treasure Hunt" from 2004. These are very rare and most are scooped up by "scalpers" before they hit the shelves. This is a neat piece. Its got the real riders tires as mentioned above, but they have white walls that say T-Hunt Meyer's Manx. Paint is blue metallic with white graphics. Interior is white, windshield is tinted blue. I bought this one off E-Bay for $8.99 plus shipping. Don't pay TOO much for one!
To my knowledge, these are most of the variations of this casting available. Ther are variations like the Treasure Hunt being on a 2003 style card and a 2004 style card but the cars look the same.
There is a Target only set called "California Dreaming" I think. Its got 8 or so cars with a California theme. One of the cars in the set is the Meyers Manx but I'm not sure exactly what it looks like (I think it's red).
There was also a K-Mart car that is silver Metallic. |

The only variation I'm missing as of now is the green 'Down & Dirty' one, and I've heard that a silver one with the FTE gold wheels has been released......anyone else see that one? The silver ones are only available through Kmart.
There are three variations on the gold one, by the way: 5-spoke gray wheels, 6-spoke gray wheels, and the FTE one. |

Is this from a set? 5 car pack? I've never heard of it

How were they packaged at Kmart? Where they in a set? Released on "Kday" or just only in cases that were meant for Kmart?

Cool, I'll keep a look out, thanks! |

The green and orange ones are the "Down and Dirty" ones. They were sold in individual packages, however the card was different, I believe it was orange. |

Since you are bringing up toy buggies, Does anyone know of a Berry Mini 'T' toy ever being made? Seems like I remember a model kit way back when, but other toys? |

turbo_buggy - The silver one has no special packaging, just the standard blue HW blister pack card; the only difference is, you can only get it at Kmart. It's kinda like the red one, which was in the 'California dreamin' set, only sold at Target.
Yellermanx is right, the D&D card was different; it had a ghost-image of a buggy in the background, and said 'Down & Dirty' on it. |

I've got the model of the 1968 Kyote Mantaray II that was made in 1969... I bought it on ebay and need to re-assemble it .. (All the parts are there, it was made previously)
I only bought it because I've got a real one and thought it would be cool to have the model too. I'll post pics someday when I get around to it.

My wife and I attended the show/drag race/swap meet in Reynolds Georgia this weekend where I met a very cool collector of Hot wheels specializing in VW's. I bought alot of stuff from him that's tough to find locally. Alot of the split window baja casting, but I won't post pics since they aren't buggy related.
First up is the silver variation only available in K-Mart.
Sorry for the blurry pic. This just shows it has the same Meyers Manx logo on the hood as the gold one.
Same car, pic taken from the side
This next one is neat. Its a Johnny Lightning casting of Tom Daniel's "Lil van". I thought it was a neat casting and really has that 70's look so I grabbed it.
This next one is a Corgi casting. As you can see its definitely been played with. Its about 1.5 times the size of the Hot Wheel version. I think I'm going to pull this one apart, paint it, and put some different wheels/tires on it.
The final one is a nice Tonka piece. I bought it for $10. I was also going to buy another one that was a moterized version that was a great replica of a Manx with a hard top. It was awesome looking and in great shape, but as I was looking over the rest of the guys stuff deciding what to buy, another guy came along and bought it. I wasn't going to say anything since it is first come first serve though.
This one is about 6-7" long and as you can see, hasn't been used very much. It even still has the Tonka sticker on the hood in great shape

Hot Wheels has a new Manx out! Its in a 5 pack called wish list. Its pretty cool looking. Black with red wheels and interior (looks anodized).
The rest of the 5 pack is sweet too, it was supposed to be called Boys Toys, but Mattel decided to change it at the last minute, it has the go kart (very cool casting) the sand blaster which is a Honda Odyssey casting, a 4 wheeler, and a sweet go-ped. |

Heres my favorite one in my collection.
I custom built it from a gold Hotwheels regular issue.
Hard to see the metalflake in the pic.
The hardtop was tough to make but i think it came out pretty good.
Here it is in the assembly phase.
