Today I started my car and when I turned it own, a white smoke came out from the exhaust pipe. Is this normal? when the car is cold?

If the temp is cold you could see a little white smoke or water vapor at the exhaust. Is it an aircooled beetle or water cooled newbeetle?

If it's watercooled and has a mechanical problem like a blow head gskt you could get coolant burning in the cylinder and it will smoke white out of the exhaust. Is it overheating or misfiring/runs rough?

Generally white smoke is coolant/water, blue is oil and black is fuel due to excess fuel like very rich mixture or misfire.

hope this helps,
Tony.

When it is cold out, yes it is normal (most every car does it). It is condensation/moisture in the exhaust burning out of there.

My car does this too, and I have an aircooled Porsche, and it does it. No problem, just worry if it turns gray or black.

My car was doing this. I took apart the motor and found worn valve guides (all) and piston rings in the #4 cyl that was no good.
