I'm hoping some of you can help me. I have quite a few used cylinder heads that were included in a load of parts I purchased. How can I tell what size engine they are for?? I understand the difference between single port and dual port, but is the only other way to identify them to measure the bore?

What do you feel is the going rate for used 36HP heads? I see a few NOS examples in the classifieds, but no used parts.

I have this info and a lot more in HP Books "How to Rebuild Your Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engine".
The part numbers are in the rocker box, below the valve train.
113 101 371A 1961 1200 cc 31.5mm in X 30mm ex.
113 101 371B,C,D '62 - '64 both the same round boss
113 101 371F replacement for above
113 101 373 '65 1200cc square boss
113 101373B '66 1300cc single port 33mmX30mm
311 101 373A '67 - '70 15/1600cc single port 35.5mmx32mm
113 101 375A '71-'73 1600cc dual port same w/ ledge
043 101 375A '74 1600cc dual port same w/ledge
043 101 375R or H '75 -'76 1600cc dual port 9mm ex.valve stem
141 101 375 2 39.3mmX32mm replacement
head made in Brazil known as "racing head"
040 101 375 2 1600cc 35.5mmX32mm
