Try contacting SV2's they put on the show or California Pacific J/Bugs
(760) 433-7501

The Vintage VW Spring Festival (Hosted by Bob Baker VW Dealership) will not happen for 2006. The dealership will be under construction (they’re going to be getting their showroom doubled), making it difficult to have a show.

Remember though, this show is an SV2s show, so we might be looking for a new venue in 2007. So stay tuned.

This particular small show can be done some place else and for that matter the "Spring" part can be dropped also and put on at any time in the year! 8)

In any case, it just opens up for MORE CAMPING! :P

We are just as sorry too, Bob! :(

But you should know that sometimes there are things beyond your ability to "change" so you have to do the best you got with what you can! 8)

Has anybody looked at Buddy Todd park in Oceanside, it's very close to Pacific J/Bugs, just up the hill. They tore down a water reservoir and put bark all over the ground (perfect for parking cars on), the park has trees, play area for the kids, grass, and BBQ spots built in the park. I think it could make a great place for a show, I don't know what it is like having to deal with a city on using there property for a car show though. I did a few years ago get permission to drive down the pier in Oceanside for a photo shoot, so it could be worth the try.

Sure, we could do that. We'll come out to attend the first show you put together as the Rocky Mountain SV2s chapter. Make sure you take lots of pictures and write an article for the monthly newsletter!

Where did J/Bugs move to? I drove past their old place on Oceanside Blvd about a month ago on my way to the Pier and noticed an Import shop had opened up. What about holding the show down by the pier?

pyrOman Wed Jan 11, 2006 11:45 am

Pacific/J-Bugs moved to right behind their old place was. The store front now faces south to Oceanside Blvd rather than east towards the sharp corner. It is a bigger shop area square footage wise. The reason the 3rd annual AUTOFEST did not happen last year was because the new tenant in the "old store" opens on Sundays and would not care to have any car show take over his parking lot. Yes, even if it was just the one day!

At least we had the "Dubs In The Sun" show! :P

pyrOman Wed Jan 11, 2006 11:59 am

BTW, most show goers do not really have much of a clue of all the "issues" a show promoter absolutely HAS TO put up with in order to just secure a location for any event let alone see to fruition. One of biggest hurdles is insurance which is vital. It is much easyer to have a "sponsor", like a car dealership, to provide the location since his insurance will be the cover. Otherwise when you have to just find a place, you have to come up with the insurance. Legal matters and like that.

So while it is really easy to say "somebody should step up to the plate and take over {insert show name here} and put it on!", please do give them some slack if it doesn't happen. Or you could also volunteer your time to help in any way you can in order to make it so. 8)
