Does anybody know of a place to get a specific color --Pearl White--in a spray can like you can get at the hardware store.
Or can you take a sample of the color to a paint store and get them to make it up in a spray can?
Any idea's,

Thanks for the info.
Have you tried either one or know of any experiences with the spray paints?

I've used the WW spray paints, they were good, kinda expensive though.

I've taken a sample and had paint custom mixed. About $2/ounce. Take something off the car, like gas door, or other part that's the right color, to get the closest match. You may even have to take the car. I took a torsion cover from my Square and had it perfectly color matched. But the top of the car had faded more, and the paint didn't match at all. |

Just be forwarned, the most of the Duplicolor type paints are generally Lacquer based and if you are painting over most non factory applied enamels, the lacquer will attack it and cause it to pucker and lift. |

This is where WW gets their paint. If you have the color code, get it directly from these guys cheaper Im sure.

were did you get that done?
wierd how this forum seems psycic sometimes, just today I was trying to figure out how to match my paint to repaint one fender & my aprons. I tried just about every shade of red I could find at the auto parts stores & wal mart..... Today I thought of a solution, I'm going to get a few different reds, some brown, & some grey model car paints, mix them to be the right colour & spray them with the model car sprayer you can buy. I don't know how well it will work, but I guess I'll find out. |

Go to your local automotive paint dist. They should be able to make up any color you want in enamel and load it into a rattle can. Should be between $10-20. We get all kinds of colors made up.Usually white when we need to spot some welds on a raditor support. We also have gotten laquer thinner loaded into a spray can, makes a great on the spot clean up. |

I think your referring to the chemicals reacting with one another. All aerosol spray paint are laquer since you don't need to add any catalyst to harden them. Sucks when you first experience this phenomenon though doesn't it? |

My car is the same color, Pearl White. The factory Volkswagen paint code is L87. I took that number to the body shop and they made the color right there. Just as a precaution, we stuck it on a testing stick and waited for it to dry. Voila! Perfect match. |
