Everyone has their favorites. If I had to pick 3, they'd be (in no particular order)

The Deltra force is a crappy movie, but there is a 5 minuite chase scene where Chuck Norris out runs A Peugeot 404 truck in a bay window bus. The bus goes down flights of stairs and get all shot up. |

I was thoroughly impressed with the car chase scene in "The Bourne Supremacy". Not just pedal to the metal, but loads of downshifting/upshifting, spins, and especially the way he trips up and rams the guy driving the SUV.
The chase scene in the original version of "Gone in 60 Seconds" was not filmed with stunt people or actors. They actually planned out the scene and drove through actual streets at regular hours. When you see people running for their lives, that's because they actually were running for their lives.
The remake of "The Italian Job" had great car chase scenes.
Stupid movie, but "Days of Thunder", where the stock car drivers beat the hell out of their rentals. |

My favorite is the chase scene from the Clint Eastwood flick "deadpool" with the RC car loaded with C-4.A very off beat chase. Then there is "Bullit" and of course all the car chase scenes in "It's a mad, mad, world" (with an early convertible beetle). |

I automatically thought of 'Vanishing Point' when I saw this thread; the whole movie is a car chase. :D There's a also a handful in my all-time favorite film: Mad Max(the original, not that Thunderdome crap).
Here's a couple others I thought of:
*The Bourne Identity(that Mini was awesome)
*The Gumball Rally |

I liked the first scene in Beverly Hills Cop. But the best is the end of What's Up Doc? with Barbara Striesand. On TV they cut out the part where the VW delivery van tips over after all the cars hit it. |

That's just it. This chase is the best because of the sense of absolute desperation on the part of Matt Damon's "Bourne". He's at the end of his rope, just barely hanging on beating the hell out of that poor Lada taxi like its a WRC race or something. |

French connection is one of the all time greats definately set the bar for all others to follow.
Bullit - can't argue with that, especially as he did all his own driving!
The OG Italian job - deffo!!
I'm sure 'Freeby and the Bean' (sp??) had some good stuff in there too.
Anyone remember 'Driver' (Another Steve McQueen film) - the scene in the car park where he's showing his skills is pretty good as far as I can remember and I'm sure there's probably some chases in there too. Again - pretty sure he did all the driving himself.
And worth watching - 2 Lane Black top with James Taylor and Brian Wilson - more of a road movie but a classic none the less. (Think Easy Rider but with Tri-Chevy's instead of Harleys). They spend thier time racing in illegal road races in thier '55 Chevy for cash. |

Same 55' that Harrison Ford drove in "American Graffitti". |
