View original topic: Rain Gutter Replacement Piece?

My rain gutters on my 78 rivi are pretty rusted.

Was wondering if anyone had found pieces out there that had worked for replacing them... like cut off the old ones and weld on the new ones.

I saw a few threads about sanding and filling or welding pieces. Mine are riddled with holes and frail. At some point along the way, someone repairded them with a curtain rod.

Thanks,

Casey

Repairded??

First let me say welcome to the forum. Where are you located? If you go to your profile you can add your location so people won't have to keep asking you. I'm parting out 3 Buses right now so I could cut you off sections of the rain gutter if you'd like. I'm almost positive they aren't available new.

Going to see if I can pick them up locally, was just looking to see if anyone had luck finding them new.

I also updated my information :)

Thanks for the posts.

Reviving this thread.

Has anyone ever cut their rain gutters (drip rails) off and just gone without them?

Besides the obvious of rain coming straight down and not being able to hang stuff on them.

Thanks,

Casey

I had my removed from my Ghia really improved the look of the car. I don't drive it in the rain unless I have to but you can't crack the window because it drips.

You can not just cut off the rain gutter because it is the welding seam for the roof the pillars and the top of the door. What you have to do is to remove a section at a time the re-weld the seam it is a very long process. My Ghia has a very short roof the bus will take forever.

Posted a wanted ad on Samba Classifieds last night and got 3 people offering them to me for pretty cheap. So, I'm cutting the old sections off and welding the new ones in.
