"Cloudy With A Chance Of Love" has quite a bit of footage of the main character with her Karmann Ghia, including 15 seconds into the opening credits. It appears to be a 70 or 71 Convertible.

In one scene the car will not start. Her love interests says she should consider a new car. Her reply - "I love that car"

The car appears to need some work. A small dent in the front passenger side fender and a bent towel bar on the rear bumper.

With the snow and its being Valentine's day, I had to watch it too .....

Yeah the wife and daughter picked it.

Volkswagen Japan filmed a 'Feel Good' VW TV commercial recently here in Sydney. My KG gets a good washing.

This Ghia featured in the movie Hunter during the scene where Steve McQueen drives past (and fast) while taking his pregnant girl-friend to the emergency entrance of the hospital while she is in the last stages of giving birth. He faints after calling for help, poor man. (And I forgive him for that.)

The movie was on NZ Sky Movies last night.

That's yours? How cool is that! Cool Nice car! I hope VW Japan has now given you the keys to the secret room where they keep all of the old stock air cooled parts.

How awesome would that be?

Well we know for certain that at the very least he did get a free car wash out of the deal.

Great looking Ghia you've got there, restonubie!

In the newest advertisement for the History Channel's Counting Cars, there is about a 1 or 2 second spot of a Karmann Ghia coming out of the garage.

Anyone else catch it?

This is the episode, the Ghia part starts around time 9:28. There might be some more footage before that.

The link previously posted doesn't seem to work (not for me, anyway), but here is the portion of the episode where they present the Ghia to one of the employee's wives as a surprise anniversary present:

Counting Cars: Shannon Gives His Wife Her Dream Car (S4, E15)

IMO, that is a really sweet - albeit very pink - Karmann Ghia!

Am I just reading too much into her body language and overall reaction to the car, or does that woman seem more pissed off than happy? Smile
