Grandparents unexpectedly took the kids tonight so the wifey and I took the '66 on little road trip. Checked out some cool roads and scenery. Put about 170 miles on the car. Was perfect weather for cruising around.

Nice shots and fine road, Army_Guy! Must've been a treat to drive with no traffic in front of you. The rolling hills remind me of CA Rt 25 south of Hollister, which I drove about 20 yrs ago.
SP- your '67 has a very good stance with the wheel/tire combination. |

Oregon wine country drive last fall. You ain't cool unless your tuck away exhaust exits from under the left rear fender
Enjoy the ride. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Beautiful pictures and a nice post. Enjoyed not having to read another post about a bug overheating or difficult to start....how refreshing! Only wish I could have contributed a picture... I need to go on a road trip! _________________ 1963 Beetle

And then this guy pops in and makes us all want to restore our cars
The road I went on was Del Puerto Canyon Road/Hwy 130. It goes up to the mount Hamilton observatory. It's a beautiful drive. 75% of that road was in second gear. The other 25% in third. It's way to steep and twisty to get in to fourth with my measly 40 horse. If you google map it we took it from Patterson, CA all the way to San Jose, CA. Then took the long way back around to Modesto. I loved every second of it. _________________ 2015 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition

I used to live in Fremont when I was in grade school. I never knew that there was an East side road up mount Hamilton. I thought your pics were from some road off of Pacheco Pass or the Frank Raines wilderness roads. Northern California has some fantastic back roads. I miss the roads, not the people living there (Cali_Army_Guy excepted). Dude you rock.
Wanna have some fun? Try Morgan Territory road off of Clayton Valley road. Now that's some twisty fun. Even with a 40 horse.

Thanks for that little tip. I think I might take 580 to N. Livermore Ave. Then take Morgan Territory Rd up to Marsh Creek to Clayton then go up to Pittsburg and come back home. I'll be sure to post pics of that adventure as well.
Oh and I completely understand about the people here. This state wrote the book on how to be a douche bag. _________________ 2015 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition
