No clue what this metal nub with an O-ring behind it.

I have a early 74 vw beetle and on the driver side its right to the left of the driver car door and its Metallic and has like a black O-ring behind it. Anyone have a clue what it is?

inside, outside on the dash.....post a pic, cause I have no clue of where on the car you are trying to describe

Remember this is a global forum, here in the US left of the driver side door is outside the car, in countries where the driver sits on the right side, its inside the car.

Looks like some oddball non-stock decoration to me. Maybe covering some kind of hole or damage? What does it look like from inside the trunk area?

probably had an alarm system on it at one time someone removed and plugged the hole. That is where the key was inserted to activate the alarm
