I have a 1969 beatle bug type 1 motor installed in a manx meyers style body. While driving the other day it just concked out and I was unable to get it running. Since I got it back to the shop I have made the following repairs. (ALL NEW) plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser and fuel filter. Fuel pump is working, and coil has proper ohms. Now I can start the motor, but it runs at an iddle but runs like crap. I tried to adjust carbs, but can't keep it running long enough to get a proper tune on the carb. Heres the kicker.... I get absolutely no responce from throttle when I rev the motor. At that point motor wants to die again. Anyone got any Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Congratulations; you threw parts at it before troubleshooting what was wrong. That was a big mistake. Now you get to troubleshoot the initial isue PLUS what you just did.

Does it stink of gas from the exhaust ? Did it die after a fast run when you slowed down ?
It could be the fuel metering valve in the carburettor is leaking and fuel is flooding into the engine so it is running if at all very rich.
While you were going fast the fuel air mix would be rich so the engine might have stumbled a little but once you slow down and the air flow stops the mixture goes way rich and it will stop. Sometimes if you stop and fiddle with the carburettor for about ten minutes it will briefly start again and die as the pool of gas in the manifold evaporates.

These valves are a part of one of the the 34PICT-3 service kits you can buy. And are a standard spare for other carburettors.

pull the jets from the carb(s) and blast carb cleaner through them. The smallest debri can wreak havoc. Happened to me on several occasion.
