|

Hi guys, I have deluxe oval window beetle July 57.
I'm looking to buy the correct ignition switch for my car.
I see a lot differences, specially keys designs and code number.
For example. SG Code 113 and SG Code 134.
What are the differences and which one is correct for my car?
Thank you! _________________ 1957 Typ 113 - Polarsilver

... SG is 1954 to 1959 for model 113 bug... should have 4 screw-on connectors in the back... 1960 has 3 screw-on connectors... pre '54 had a push button. So, the ignition is just an on/off switch. _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

How about the SG codes? If I have a SG 134 ignition switch, can I use a SG 113 key ? _________________ 1957 Typ 113 - Polarsilver

the codes should be the same.
If you have a good switch with out a key you can get a key cut from one of the locksmiths listed on the samba. _________________ Rick

So, 113 symmetrical and 134 asymmetrical ? Do you know if both were supplied on a car from the factory ? _________________ 1957 Typ 113 - Polarsilver

... if you were walking down the street and you saw another VW, that you loved more than your car, could you pull your car's key out and use it to steel the one you loved? Ummm, that's what keys are for... security. You key will only work in your lock.
There is a VW lock guy, here on thesamba, from Altoona, Pa... send him a message asking if he can change codes on an ignition switch. _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I probably expressed myself badly.
I mean if you buy a blank key code SG 113, can I make a copy of SG 134, and this new GS 113 (which was blank), work in the cylinder of SG 134 key?
Asking that because I found a NOS SG 134 ignition switch, but the keys are unsymmetrical and I would like to run with symmetrical keys. So I would have to buy new blank keys symmetrical.
Or the Code itself 113 or 134 are the shapes on the blade? _________________ 1957 Typ 113 - Polarsilver

SG is the key profile and the numbers are how the key is cut to fit the switch stamped with that same code.

Now, everything makes more sense. Thanks!
Do you know what is the correct one for a Oval windows 57 deluxe beetle? SG symmetrical or unsymmetrical ? Or both type are correct for ? _________________ 1957 Typ 113 - Polarsilver

\Do not buy this key. It is not an SG key. It's SC, as indicated by the stamp on it. _________________

You need to come up with a different way to ask this. What you posted doesn't make any sense. _________________
