Much like the "Portland Area is Happening" thread, I wanted to start a thread for those of us in WA that want to assist other Washingtonians with deals, service, recommendations, informal meet ups etc.

This thread might not make it long, but thought I would start it.
------------------------------------

I went to 360 Auto Wrecking, Lake Stevens WA, to see what I could pull off of a 1988 Vanagon. Here is the craigslist ad:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/ptd/5618093163.html

Picture:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I didnt realize how "rusty" the underside of my van was until I looked at this one, I couldnt find any rust underneath this van and it definitely didn't look like it had any coating applied to it.

Things that are missing from the photo (ie already taken):
No triangle/wing windows
no sliding windows
no Front bumper (back bumper is off, but still on site)
no rear side windows
no head rests, driver seat is missing left arm rest

This is a 1988 passenger van with AC, all electric and automatic transmission.

I dont know too much about worthwile parts, but I wanted to take off the rear control arms (because they look flawless), springs and shocks, the same for the front.

I noticed under the van two stainless steel lines running from the engine to the front of the van that my van doesnt have, The tubes looked to be 1" (maybe 2") diameter. Not sure if it is an automatic thing or if those are the "upgraded coolant lines". Anyways, wanted to let folks know it is there and is relatively rust free. Wish I was smarter and took some pictures, but I was crunched for time.

Anyways, I hope other WA area folks chime in on finds in your area, or general things that would be beneifical for the greater Seattle community.

cheers,
Dana (DSD)

There might be 37 pages for Seattle if you add up all the stolen vanagon threads...

@Weezyissuperfast -

I do not know. The interior of the van though is in shambles. I put the rear bumper inside. There is no back seat or carpet. it has the overhead vents. The tail lights are still there (both are removed and inside the van floor). the Engine compartment was pretty disassembled, I took the coolant cap (the reservoir is there, but had a bunch of crud inside and the other port looked cracked.

What I think is good on the van is the panels (the sliding door looked in great shape on the exterior, no latches or windows), the rear glass, and then suspension components.

I am not mechanical enough to know the quality of the leftover engine components or items in the steering column...

Cheers,
Dana

Cool, thanks for the response. I'm doing a Carat/Wolfsburg interior swap, but I'm missing a couple of brackets. I had been planning on fabricating them, but I was curious if there was anything in that van. Sounds like I will stick with my fabrication plan.

EDIT: CL ad is now gone, guessing someone snagged it

Anyone looking for the Yakima crossbar rack option? Here is a 2 bar kit for $140.00 in my neck of the woods .

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/spo/5675311805.html

Maybe not a screaming deal, but I spent more than this trying to piece mine together so think it is a great option for those who are looking.

Ad details:
Yakima Roof Rack Towers & Bars
Round Cross Bars: 69 inches
Used on '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee

$140 CASH ONLY
Will meet at Mill Creek Town Center to show/deliver.

I found a deal for locals looking for an alternative mattress topper for their van.

On 4th avenu around the corner from Peacevans:

http://www.pacificcoast.com

They sell feather beds and related and have a clearance center currently offering half off beds already half off so the full size we need is now $40!

These are "Down on top"(feathers on bottom) first rate quality.

Just a nice deal on a local product from a well regarded company. Made in USA, all sterile down and 100% cotton cover, gluten free.

Awesome!! Can you tell me a bit more about sizes? I saw your gallery photos ...would these work in a camper? Or just a weekender? I have a full camper and have been searching for a pad for the top bunk as well as the botrim. Would a full size fit either location in a camper? Sorry to be dense on the subject.

The full size feather bed is slightly bigger than both beds, depending on whose dimensions you go by.
