Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my charging system. Generators and voltage regulators are new to me(I'm use to alternators). I have cleaned the brushes and armature with sand paper. Also I have polarized the generator as well. My red light on my dash is still solid when car is running.

1- should there be any voltage at the generator posts when car is off or only when car is running?(there is 12 volts to the regulator from the battery)

2- shouldn't there be some current flowing when car is on? I show .556 DC volts when car is on or off but no current?

Is there anything that I can do or try to see if the generator is truly bad.

By the way this is a porsche 12 volt 90mm generator for my 36hp engine.

My thoughts are that there should be voltage at the generator since there is voltage at the regulator.

Thanks for any help and info.
