Can I put 1958 and newer rear brake drums on my 1955? I know my 55 has oil slingers and 1958 does not have them.

AFAIK the outer edge of the drum won't fit to the 1955 brake carrier plate.
BUT you can cut/mill that outer edge on the Okt/1957 drums so they fit.
I purchased my rear drums at the dealer Bernd Gerhards in Neuss/Germany where he offered in 1992 these ready modified 1957-1967 drums and they work like a charme on my Febr. 1955 model.
It has been a long time but AFAIR the difference is like shown below:
