Coming back from breakfast this morning I saw this guy who looked to be in his early thirties riding one of those small single speed stunt type bikes.
He was riding with one hand on and off the handle bars while trying to text.
While doing this stunt he rode right out in front of an oncoming truck.
The driver fortunately (or maybe not... ) saw him and slammed on the brakes.
The biker looked up, rode across the street and went back to texting.
I drove buy him, looked at him and he gave me this look like "what".
Have we really become this "stupid" ... |

As long as you pay attention it really isn't that complicated. I've texted while riding my sport bike down the freeway and I'm still alive. _________________ 2015 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition

saw on the news a few weeks ago a city (or a state? or a country? can't remember) that planned on making illegal to walk and text...
yeah, we have to make that kind of stuff illegal so people don't get hit by car. kinda sad. _________________ 1964 Turkis Flipseat |

I have been hit head on twice by dumbasses that were texting instead of looking where they were going. Cyclists are already at a disadvantage when it comes to other vehicles & complain the most about inattentive drivers. Focusing on something other than saving your own ass seems foolhardy. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Stupid should hurt, but not kill.
Texting while riding can be deadly.

Mrs. Cussed broke down on a main road Wed. in our truck, left lane, no way to push off to the right either, needed a tow truck. During the 45 minutes until the truck was loaded up, amazing how many drivers almost hit the truck, flashers were on and she was in the median waving them over, and then I replaced her.
Some came within 3 feet of hitting the truck, most would not even slow down just swerved into the middle lane without concern who was already there, and some were very indignant that their texting while driving had been interrupted briefly !!!
Was quite interesting to observe all this, like a giant sociology experiment !!! _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. "Yep", I don't think they carry 'Stupid' coverage.....yet.
I can see it now; "do you need full stupid coverage or just liability". |
