Hi, new guy here. Sorry if this post isn't in the right section.

Anybody here know what I would need to take the VSS signal from a Subaru 6-speed transmission and convert it to a MK2 mechanical cluster (from a 1988 VW Scirocco 16v)? Both are originally in KPH if it can help. From my own research, I could only find the Dakota Digital ECD-100 unit. Anyone know if the "Ford clip-on" they mention is similar to VW's MK2 cluster attachment? Even if it does, I think that the pulses per revolution need to match as well?

I'm not interested in the "why" and "it's stupid" type of comments. I'm posting this on this forum since I know that many Samba owners swap in Subaru stuff into their bus.

Any other solutions available out there?

Thanks in advance!

bus speedo cable to wheel... so no real application like you thought...

in europe they had a digitfz dash.. it would be vss

what you need is a reverse electric motor to spin the speedo head that the vss controls the rpm of... i see no reason one annot be made... but i cannot say i can think of any real reason on a vw application.. i guess if a guy was putting a 06 or newer driveline in a 93 to 74 wc vw this would be needed.. as they use the abs as the speed sensor.. but i think gm/ford applications would be much more common for the retro rod cult using new drivelines with classic interiors/cars
