I have a 1979 VW super beetle that was converted to carburetor a pict 34 and had the engine rebuilt at the same time , at a garage out of state they only work on old air cooled vw only put about 500 miles on it
then about a year later I went to another garage only because this garage is a lot closer to me and had a electronic ignition put on
the car ran fine but the idle was up so I ask the guy if he did put it in timing
The guy said yes then started to adjust the carburetor
from there the car would just stall at red lights stop signs ....
so I was told I needed a pict-31 cause pict-34 are junk
I let the car sit over the fall and winter and just bought a pict-31 and had him put it on 3-days ago { then he also said the valves needed adjusted }
The car runs fine
until you tramp down on the gas then it bogs down and pulling out at stop signs and red lights the car bogs hard to pull out with a clutch
but after you do pull out the car will run with no stalls
it don't seem to back fire
{ someone said I need a gas pump regulator because I went to carburetor } and it makes sense because one wasn't put on after the car was converted to carburetor
but didn't seem to start till he did the valves and new carburetor
any help would be appreciated on gas pump regulators or if you think maybe it's a timing
