Help, I decided to replace the new KYB gas shocks on the front with Sachs oil-filled 313898 shocks. The Sachs didn't come with any of the bushings/washers for the top mount. Would I use the same kit as the WW version?

I'm asking because there is not much of a thread at the top of the shaft and I don't see how it's going to work with some rubber bushings there. Does the kit above have some sort of extension on it? Looks like the stock versions also have one of these as a cover but I don't have it.

Also, when I put the Sachs in place (on the lower stud) the top of the shaft is about 3/8" below the hole in the top mount. I assume that's because I have the car jacked up at the front tube and the suspension is completely unloaded?
Here's the Sachs, you can see just a bit of thread at the top.

Any help/experience is appreciated, car's just sitting on jackstands until I can sort this out

I don't know what you paid for those shocks from rock auto but if you add that kit from WW, it's another $18. The shock with that kit is only $24.

Maybe a better deal. _________________ John

Too late, I had already ordered/received the Sachs shocks from Rockauto. I mistakenly thought they would include mounting as most shocks do. I found and ordered that mount kit on ebay but still an added cost. One of those things, lol.
Overall, yes the entire shock setup from WW would have saved a few bucks. _________________ My 1973 Standard Beetle Build SOLD

Did you get the dust shield shown in Antonio's photo?
Just checking, people leave them off all the time, and wonder why their shocks fail/leak oil so quick! _________________ (Owner) www.vintagecarleds.com
