No I don't think so. small screwdriver to tap/pry it off is all. Been awhile but I don't remember any issues. _________________ 1972 1302

Anyone replace the latch while the glass is installed, attached to the car.
Removing clip easy. Getting it back, hard.
How'd ya do it.

BTDT!
I used one of those wood working clamps to hold the outer pin in place and compress the rubber seal at the same time. It's a bit fiddly.
Use just enough clamp pressure to get the clip in place.
You don't wanna break the glass.
Make sure that you have a tarp or something like that under the car while you attempt to install the clip.
I dropped the clip and never found it in the gravel that is my driveway. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Yes, you have to ease that clip in there vertically without it falling. I was trying to rig up a tool. Did you just lay it in there an push with a little screwdriver? _________________ 1965 Beetle, 1970 1600cc DP 60HP, 12v |

It's been a few years since I installed the widow latch post.
You can use a small set of needle nose pliars to hold the clip and slide it into place.
Your going to need a little creativity with the installation. .
Once the rubber seal is compressed, you should see the groove on the post, install the clip. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Sir, what clamp did you use. I tried all the clamps I had and nothing would hold the outer pin and the inner latch at the same time, which would free up my hands to hold the window and hold a needle nose pliers. _________________ 1965 Beetle, 1970 1600cc DP 60HP, 12v |

IIRC, I used a bar clamp similar to this,

Like I said earlier, it's been a while since I installed the popout window latch on my car. _________________ I have learned over the years.
