That is indeed the wire for the oil pressure sender. What's that wire you have hooked up to yours? It looks like it might be the one for the kickdown switch.

Here is another photo. If you have advise on what wires to switch, please give. Which part is the kickdown, and I don't see where the oil sensor is at

thanks. Any idea where that black wire I currently have connected, is supposed to go? It comes from the tranny area. I fed it over the front tin on engine install, thinking it connects to something in the engine bay. Perhaps it connects to the tranny somewhere?

What about that little white wire that is not connected? The one right above oil sensor you pointed out, assuming that is the sensor, and not the kickdown.

The black wire goes down to the transmission and plugs into the kickdown solenoid. The upper end of the wire plugs into the kickdown switch by the intake, but your engine is missing the switch. Here's what it looks like:

Another view (don't mind the red arrow):

No need to worry about that right now, though. Plug the greenish bluish wire into the sender.

The white wire is part of the injection wiring harness. I don't know where that wire goes on a 69 system. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you.

Oil sensor wire will be a blue green. The black wire is to the trans side of the kick down switch. The other end of the kick down switch gets power from the + (key) side of the coil and should have an inline fuse.

The white wire you are asking about I believe goes to Temp Sensor 2, the head sensor.

On my 71, the fuse is between the coil and the switch, which matches the wiring diagram:

But as I say, that doesn't matter right now, since his switch is missing.

t-royR, can you show us a picture of the wiring on your coil, and the wire on the head temperature sensor?

Could this oil temp sensor mis-wire I had in place have been the cause, or part of the cause, for my issues getting the car to start? I believe I have the sensor correctly wired now, from the earlier advise.

The sensor wire wouldn't figure in that, no.

See that black wire with the inline fuse, coming off the coil? That would go to your kickdown switch, and the black wire we pointed out earlier would go to the second terminal on the kickdown switch. Don't let this wire (coming from the coil) touch bare metal. In fact, you could go ahead and remove it since you don't have a kickdown switch.

The temp sensor should be on the left side head, towards the rear as you look down at the top of the head.

That black wire with the inline fuse goes to the head sensor. It looks to belong there as it has a very unique cable and is attached directly to the sensor (no way to disconnect from the sensor).

Could it be that the white wire is supposed to connect to that sensor on the air intake body, instead of the black wire(s)? It seems to be the only place that white wire will reach, and the wire comes from the same wire grouping that connects to the other sensors for the fuel injection black box?

The head sensor wire has no fuse. It ends in a female push-on terminal. That terminal fits into a T1 connector (clear plastic, now probably yellow with age or brown with dirt and heat), but there is no fuse in it.

White FI wires have wire numbers inked on them. Clean it and look for a number. We can then tell where it should connect.

That doesn't sound right. Could you check it again? If that black wire is connected to the temp sensor, it's no wonder the car won't run.

You are correct that the temp sensor wire won't disconnect from the sensor. It's made that way. If that wire isn't plugged in, the car won't run.

Here's my temp sensor wiring. See the orange arrow pointing to the sensor? And the yellow arrow pointing to the white wire you're wondering about? Now look up by the end of the generator. See the plastic connector? That's where the two wires join. The connector has two male ends inside, so you can join the two female wire ends together.

the black wire with the inline fuse runs down to the right of the distributor, and under the engine where it is a solid connection to some sensor (I assume it is a sensor). This is on the left side (under side) of the engine, when looking from behind. Again, that is the black wire coming off the coil, with an inline fuse. The other black wire (actually, blue under the plastic cover) that I originally indicated was disconnected, comes from a wire grouping that comes out of the left side of the engine wall, with the wires that connect to the coil.

The only wire coming from the coil with a fuse holder on an automatic car is for the kick down switch at the throttle plate. If it is connected anywhere else it will cause problems.

better pic of wire with in-line fuse, where it can be seen that it runs down to below the engine. Has some connector just before it goes through the bottom tin piece.
