Time for another round of:
"Whats wrong with this Engine"

So I have a 1600 Single carb that WAS running great right up to the point when I was on the highway at speed at night and she loses power (almost like its out of gas).
*Tank was filled three days prior at gas station (so I think bad fuel is out of question).

I pull over at 2:30am pour in 5gal fresh gas and try to start her back up….she tries to fire twice but eventually nothing.
Tried to push start….nothing.
Let her rest for an hour and fifteen minute wait with Zyka Mosquitos buzzing around and 18 wheelers blowing your hat off!
Finally gave up and got a lift on the back of good old AAA.

Tried two morning later….just turns over but she won't fire.

A few more clues.
The fuel pump pin fell out several months ago and it has since been pinned and safety wired.

I am also having a grounding issue that is affecting my brakes and turn signals, but again the bus has been running great for months with this issue being worked on.

My mildly educated guess is fuel pump or i am not getting spark.

Could a bad ground shut down the motor so it has no spark?

Where would you look first? What can I remove and replace to try and find issue.

I apologize if this could have been searched in the forum. The search engine is broad and often times difficult to find the answers specific to the issues some of us run into. If a link exactly like this exists please let me know.

I remove the air cleaner and use a mirror and see if the accelerator pump is shooting gas to see if an engine has fuel.

For spark standard points check and static timing. Should have hi voltage spark if not but the points are good and there is voltage to the coil then it's the coil.

Make sure the carb is getting 12 volts to the choke and gas shut off valve.

Do the back up lights work?
