I found this bus in the background of a craigslist ad for a 1959 Impala. I called the guy and the bus was already sold to a different local guy. The new guy referred to it as the "holy grail of vans" and told me to make an offer. I made an offer and it was accepted. I immediately left work and headed that way. When we were loading it up there was lots of chatter about "that pickers show."
The bus was used for many many years as a chicken coop after the torsion was chopped out. I sourced a donor torsion from a friend on the way home.
Here she is all loaded up on the way home.
Back in the day the bus was a company vehicle for Best Exterminators
Cargo floor from under the bus
Before and after removal of the various types of poop from the cargo area
Before and after of the front cabin
Fitting and welding on the torsion while still on the trailer
Cargo doors lined up great after welding the torsion in
Tucked safely in the garage
While the bus was spending time as a chicken coop it had sheets of corrugated metal over the ragtop which was surprisingly intact and in decent shape

That kinda is the holy grail, righteous find! My buddy bought a chicken coop bus before and farmer said to him "son, are you OK the head?"

When he was saying it's the holy grail I was thinking I wouldn't be able to afford it. I was wrong. I also know he bought it for $100 bucks from the fellow with the impala. Wish I were faster.

No kidding. Why would an exterminating company have such a beautiful vehicle for exterminating? I'd love to know the backstory, or if it was just the owner's personal car that needed to be listed on the company books for a tax writeoff as advertising. |

| Wow cool find. If only I could find one like this that someone didn't want ungodly amounts of money for. Ill be taking a trip from Reno to Vegas soon, I may take some long cuts along the way to try and see what I can see. |

I heard mouse making some noise in the bus so I set a glue trap. Came back to a mostly empty trap.
Seems he got away... And that is a rat in an exterminator van.
Decided to clean out the belly pan area by starting the cargo floor removal.

Cleaned out the ole garage to make some working room. Means the 21 got to see some sunlight.
My first order of metal came in as well. This order was all Wolfsburg west stuff. I figured I would start right dab in the middle of the bus.
