Hi,
help required

I've been looking at a 53 barndoor panel van. I notice that the outer sill under the side loading doors has small slots along the sill.
They are 3 >4mm approx in height & 70 > 80mm in length along sill.
Is this the correct original sill panel?
Thanks
Dave

Hi
I am unable to upload picture at present but if you put this into the Internet "german cars vw 1953 barndoor panel" you will see the dove blue panel from California, then zoom in & you can just make out the slot under the side load doors which go along the sill
Thanks
Dave

Google searching on the text above, I found this page
http://germancarsforsaleblog.com/1953-volkswagen-type-2-panel-van/
which goes to this old eBay auction

This Bus was also for sale on this site in the past.

I don't see what you are talking about but the sill under the cargo doors does look weird to me.
It's sort of "lumpy" - too much body filler?

Hi guys
Thanks for uploading pictures. If you zoom in on the sill under the side doors in the second picture it is more evident. Let me know your thoughts
Thanks
Dave

My guess is that they fix the bottom of the cargo doors and they came up a little short

I remember that bus. It came from Portugal. It had some custom metal work from a very old restoration. My guess would be home made rockers.

it seems as if somebody drilled holes in equal length distance so he was able to bend the rocker panel from flat sheet metal more easily, as he maybe had no access to an industrial sheet metal brake. none of that rocker panel looks original to me.
