What a pain in the butt aluminum wheels can be. And these being 40+yrs old, they have many miles and pits and scratches.. Anyway, I wet sanded and polished these wheels and they turned out pretty well. Couldn't get the deeper scratches out nor all the pits, but from standing distance they look very nice. And from a longer distance I had someone mistake them for chrome.

The pics don't do them justice. They look very good, but I think there is still improvements to be made on them. The lips on the fronts are almost mirror finish. More sanding and polishing to be done.

You did an awesome job! Anyone close enough to see the deep scratches or pits needs to back away...you don't want them scratching the paint.
