More progress...my metal expert has been chugging right along. New right side cargo floor, inner/outer and short rocker in. Went ahead and put new lower B and C pillars in. His work is outstanding!

Broke out the 0000 steel wool and oven cleaner today. Was quite pleased with how much OG paint was hiding under there

It could be saved, or do you plan to paint over it? You could blend the paint it looks like.

Def going to save it. Just paint over the new metal like the rockers and doglegs as needed I'm not even sure I'll cover up any of the spots that show up in the main area of Turkis paint. Will touch up the surface rust places along the belt line with white paint And I might hire a paint shop to repaint the just roof above the gutter rails.

More pics after more oven cleaner, steel wool and elbow grease.....the passenger side has a bit more of the original paint sanded away during previous repaints.

What say the peanut gallery, touch up what's left of the OG paint or repaint the bus?

More of a cashew person but if I had done that much work and it looked that intact I'd keep it. Just my opinion.

When I see a purposely saved patina original vehicle I think several things: the person really cares about his vehicle and doesn't care if people diss him for it, he appreciates the originality of the creators of the factory paint, every war-wound shows, and how hard the person worked is apparent.

I was a little disappointed how much OG paint had been sanded off on the pass side compared to the driver side. The thought of just getting it completely repainted is there. I'm a big fan of originality though.

Nose is welded in now. Did some more rubbing off of the 3 paint jobs on top of the OG paint.

For the first time in 30+ years, my bus has glass all the way around. Well, the front doors are removed for ease of access but they have all their glass

Since you're asking for opinions, with that much OG paint missing, I'd stop/remove all signs of the rust and re-paint the entire Bus and then enjoy the hell out of it knowing it looks great and is well protected again from the elements.

The bus will last for decades like that in Tucson. I wouldn't worry about a full paint job if I were in his shoes.

Got my tranny back after rebuild and change to 3.88 gears. Got the new gas tank and seals in. Did some Krylon rattle can painting but ran out of krylon honeydew aka blue white. I've only been able to find a few cans here and there.

Some punter will come up to you and say, 'when are you painting it'?

Then you say, I spent 100 hours getting rid of the crap paint to get to the OG paint. They'll walk away all confused and THEN you will have the ultimate satisfaction.

The less that 'get it', the better the pay off.

Check with Summit Racing for Krylon paint. I was able to find it there. It was pretty well priced and shipped quick.
