I've always liked the look of old WWII fighters with a spiral design on the nose cone.
Has anyone ever tried to paint their crank pulley like this?

Think that has been done- BUT--  you tend to be found staring at it over a puddle of drool and it takes about a year of therapy before your allowed near a pulley again.
