What are the benefits of installing 356 style lifters anyway?

Wider selection of cams?

The lifter will last longer?

Cheers,

More aggressive cams can be used, and harder springs.
The valve timing operation get even instead of being advanced on the 3/4 side and retarded on the 1/2 side.
