I want to smooth out the texture of my padded dash on my 74 Beetle. I'm going to apply a vinyl wrap to it. Can I achieve this with fiberglass resin and sandpaper, or is there a better idea?

The fiberglass resin might eat the dash. Test a small spot first. That is going to be a lot of work for a smooth dash pad, sanding resin is not too easy.
