I lived in Waukegon winter of 1979, U.S. Navy Great Lakes. They ran that commercial then and hey still run it now. I'm 588 miles from there now. |

What's worse, even though I'm in Idaho, I remember seeing their ads on cable back in the early 80s- that had just that phone number with no area code. I had no idea where they were for some time. I watched them reprise the ad with the 800 prefix, and now empire-today. I guess they couldn't grandfather clause the domain! _________________

From Wiki:
Empire Today's advertising jingle, which has been broadcast since 1977, is a widely recognized theme. The original Chicago-centered version was only the seven-digit number:

I saw a faded, painted sign on a building that made me think of this thread.
What ever happened to Sinclair, Esso, & Clark gas stations? _________________ Everything known to man has been written.

"Once you know, you go to Clark".
EDIT:
and don't forget."They aren't good for lighters.
They aren't good for lamps.
They're only good for cold, hard cash.
That's Clark Cash-value Stamps." |

No comment on Sinclair, Rick? Didn't that used to be your preferred brand?
Plenty of Sinclair stations still around in Wyoming and the western US... and a couple of Sinclair refineries. _________________ Andy T.

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox. |

This one was somehow lodged in my 5 year old brain and will remain stuck forever. Irony that WA has legalized smoking now.
