As a start you have to flip the ring and pinion unless you want 5 reverse gears and 1 forward gear. _________________ '72 914 1.7

And then you need nose cone from the 912/911 transmission and the mount. _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW MOD-T Street Buggy |

The 914 transmission is the earlier 901 type. 1st is on the bottom left. Flip the ring & pinion, change the selector rods to early, tail shifter type, install a 901 equipped 911/'69 and earlier 912 end cover, get hybrid axles for your abomination and a 901 shifter mechanism.
So yeah, it's doable, but you'll need lots of parts.
You missing your type 923 (912E) trans? It broken? What's the story? |

Thank you for that descriptive name for that 912E; (which gets a Triumph TR-3 picture pasted over it when it would appear in Sports Car Market.) |

So start with a early tail shift 914 box, all you need is a 914 shifter, & a early 911/912 nose cone & ...? Axles? Do you mean output flanges?
You are suggesting that the CV on the 912E is different than 914? |

certainly too much hassle to even try it. Get a 912e transmission (even we have one on the shelf) and it bolts right in, or a 911 earlier transmission but then you will have to change the shift mechanism and cv axles, just not worth it |
