Seriously? Just delete the post. The word posted began with the spelling "nig" and means "grudgingly mean about spending." Once again, look it up. Sad. |

I remember my great grandfather walking to the local pub everyday for his one nightcap, until he was 96. He started working in the coal mines at six for $4 a week. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Another topic just made me think of this one
Remember when you used to cut grass and you didn't get $50?
I remember as a kid going around the neighborhood and cutting other people's grass (cut only - we didn't edge back then). I used to get $3.50 front and back. $5.00 for a big yard.
That was 40 some odd years ago. Was anybody else as cheap as I was back then? Now it's $50.... |

I used to cut grass in the neighborhood. Funny demographics on that job... to my parents, it was always a Japanese gardener (remember "bad for grass" in Chinatown?). Then it was baby boomers as kids like me. Now it is mostly Hispanics. Hey, does that make me a former oppressed minority? In all seriousness, it's always been a low paying job no matter who did it, until recently. I fired a gardener/pool guy when he didn't show up one week but still wanted to be paid. His excuse? "It was a holiday." So I am supposed to provide paid time off for cutting the damn grass? Sheesh! |

Another long lost job... paperboy. I used to have a paper route on my bike every day, but now it's been taken over by corporate and their (under)paid adult drivers. |

About 20 years ago, a buddy of mine that is an electrician told me that they had to rename the "master" & "slave" breaker panels "main" or "primary" & "secondary" because of a union employee complaint. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

What, were they dropping meese from helicopters, or celebrating poop? If dropping meese from helicopters I can understand, but how do you define poop cruelty?

At the time Peta thought it was the helicopters thing (need a BIG one to drop very many at one time) but in reality it was just one big 3 day street party but Peta threatened to launch a large ad campaign against Alaska tourism (just like they have tried against the Iditarod) and Talkeetna crumbled against the pressure. _________________ 66- Ghia
