Looks good. Are you planning on adding support to a cage from the back side of the beam?

Yes eventually it will get tied into a roll cage, eventually.
The bender is a jd2 model 3. The notcher is a harbor freight deal I built a stand for it of scraps. I love the new bender, it opened up so many new possibilitys.

I have a jd2 model 32 and a Eastwood notcher and I really like both. This car is my first real project with the bender but I have gotten fairly good with it. Here are 2 pics of my car without the body and 2 of it together.

Love the car Clyde. How does the body come off with the cage work? Cut out the body to fit?

I have to rock it back and forth over the door bars but it fits on and off easy.

But yes I have cut out what I needed to. BTW there is a complete build thread on Shoptalk forum called Ed's Baja Bug build. It wont be long before you are making a lot of things for your car. Your bumper looks good and a nice job.

when a JD32 falls from the sky and lands in the shop I don't have, I want to make a bumper like that with an integral tow bar. no way to lose it, forget or or lend it.

Not sure how I missed this thread?

Good job on that bumper. Fun stuff isn't it?

I have an Affordable bender which is produced take on the type you see plans for on the internet to build your own with a hydraulic jack. Cost me around $400 and it's gotten jobs done, but I think when the time presents itself I'd like to sell and get a JD. Despite the fact that your basically working sideways and I'd have to get used to that, everyone and their brother loves 'em. I think some of my work would have ended up more like what was in my head if I had a better bend radius like the JD has

Thank you sir. It only took me 5 years to pull the trigger on the jd. I should have done it sooner. But the blue car is a paying job so hopefully I can keep the shop stocked with steel and beer.

Here's an unrelated question. How loud/quiet is that muffler? I just got one from a vendor and haven't got my motor running yet. I'm thinking its going to be too loud for my street rail.

makes me wonder what a clever lad with a tubing bender could come up with if he applied his talents to side rails as storage spots

Bitchen work. looks like your having fun with it.

FYI........... that tube next to the Muffin will get quite hot & will discolor or blister the paint on the tube.

ask me how I know................. LOL.
