So last time I drove my car, my sideview mirror fell off. Just the glass part. I think it's a stock sideview mirror (driver's side). What's the cheapest way to fix it? Is there somewhere that I can just buy the correct glass and glue it back on?

TIA,

Steve

I've had the local glass shop cut a new piece and glue it in.

Thanks. That's probably the route I'll go. Question is that I was looking up mirrors in the classifieds and I see both pear shaped mirrors and round mirrors being sold there for the Oval. Any idea which is correct for the '55? I'd like to think my (circular) mirror is original, but you can never tell.

... I'm with you. I am more for function, then prettiness... just double side taped a round mirror glass over the partially missing one... found one at a swap, with a broken base for a buck... did similar to my Ghia mirror with no silvering left and no mirror qualities... another couple dollar very functional fix... I love not plying the silly game of "perfect car".

Can you post a picture? Most US-market '54-'57 ovals had Rosco mirrors installed either at the port or by the dealer. My '54, '56 and '57 all had Rosco mirrors; my '55 didn't.
