I have some center caps that were damaged during removal from using sockets/screwdrivers/etc.

After some measuring...
1.5" PVC Class 200 pipe has a good OD and almost good ID for knocking the caps out of the rim (without pushing on the central flat area). I filed a little off the ID & it sat in the outer annular ring very well.

2.5" Schedule 80 PVC pipe is almost perfect for installing the caps. I just needed to shave a little off the ID.

Here's some pics...
Installation tool... note how much filed off ID:

Considering the cap's wall thickness (0.71mm)... this is a good fit (for inside):

Used rag to increase impact time (hopefully keep stainless in it's elastic region)... might not be necessary... tap with hammer... tap, tap, tap:

I used the removal tool on my best original cap:

After removal... I'm happy.

Great tip - I went will the billet caps since my OEM SS ones were so bent up and so costly to replace.
